Customer Service -- Call Center Retrofitted a new Java Swing User Interface layer on the system I built for AT&T/TCI in my previous job at TRW. The new UI proved and extended the earlier architecture with the addition of an XML and DOM like business objects layer within a strict Model-View-Controller patterned client application.

Customer Service -- Call Center Architected, designed, and managed implementation of the primary tool for use by customer service in AT&T/TCI's @HOME call center. The system unites billing, customer interaction tracking, service provisioning, and trouble shooting applications within a single Web browser-based user interface. Middleware layer performs transaction management with local ORACLE database and remote, legacy billing system and provisioning applications.
Human Services -- State Government Designed and developed a Web application for electronic submission of applications for public assistance.
Electronic Commerce -- Food Distributor Led the design and implementation a World Wide Web site for the food distributor's customers, suppliers, and employees. The site offers customized views of a collection of company and industry information based on the user's profile. The site provides the ability to search the company's product and vendor database and an order entry subsystem.
ITT World Directories, Amsterdam, The Netherlands April 1994 - April 1996
Project Leader
Directory Composition and Pagination Developed automated directory (yellow and white pages) pagination system. The system is currently in use throughout ITT World Directories' operating units, producing a wide range of layout styles.
Re-implemented an existing pagination system in C++, generalized the input data stream parsing, and externalized the system's run-time configuration by implementing a Scheme-based extension language and incorporating an SGML parser. Designed a GUI process flow management tool for users to operate the pagination system along with any pre- or post- processing activities. Managed successful installations of the product in Holland, Norway, South Africa, and Portugal.

Display Ad Production Selected, installed and maintained computer systems (hardware, software, network) for display ad production service producing 500+ ads daily. Designed and implemented production tracking and workflow management system for the facility.
Database Publishing Created and maintained a generalized, parameter driven system for composing and paginating database extracts and SGML tagged text. The system was used to produce a variety of catalogs and directories and served as a primary source of revenue for the division.
Legal Publishing Created batch software for composing camera ready copy for law books with complex pagination requirements including loose-leaf inserts, tables, forms, illustrations, and multi-column and multi-page footnotes. The software implemented Matthew Bender's proprietary markup language.
