Philippine DC-3 plane on test flight crashes in Manila suburb, killing 4. A propeller-driven plane on a test flight crashed and burst into flames in a suburb of the Philippine capital on Saturday, killing at least four people onboard, airport officials said.

Akron-based Goodyear to close Philippines plant, cut 500 jobs. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plans to close its tire plant in the Philippines by Sept. 30 as it trims production capacity. About 500 jobs will be eliminated.

(Reuters) - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co <GT.N> said it will close its tire plant in the Philippines by the end of the third quarter, as it tries to cut production capacity to cut costs by $700 million this year.

MANILA (Reuters Life!) - For years, the residents of the slums along Manila's Zapote River have cursed the water lilies that clog up the waterway and cause flooding. Now, thanks to a handicraft project, they can't get enough of them.
