Mankato City Council to debate whether to take a position on Minnesota's proposed gay marriage ban. ?The City of Mankato on Monday will begin debate on whether to take a position on a proposed constitutional amendment which would bar Minnesota from recognizing gay and lesbian couples with marriage. Voters will decide on the measure in November. Elected leaders of the fourth largest city in Minnesota outside of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area will get citizen input regarding the proposal at Monday night's City Council meeting. Four Minnesota cities ? Duluth, Minneapolis, St. Paul and the City of St. Louis Park ? have already approved resolutions objecting to the amendment.
