A Florida man suspected of strangling two South Carolina mothers was charged Friday with a second count of murder, authorities said.
Raymondeze Lamon Rivera, 28, of Sarasota, was charged with killing Asha Wiley, 27, Anderson Police Chief Martin Brown said.
Rivera was already being held in Douglas County, Ga., on a murder charge in the death of Kwana Burns, 28.
Both women were found strangled with similar neck injuries in their homes in Anderson, about 100 miles northwest of Columbia, police said.
Wiley, the mother of an 8-year-old girl, was found on her bedroom floor Dec. 12. Burns was found on Dec. 14, bound with her 9-year-old son's jump rope. Her 2-year-old daughter was discovered asleep near her mother, unharmed.
Brown said police had held off charging Rivera in Wiley's death until they had collected more evidence.
Rivera this week refused to waive extradition from Georgia to South Carolina and was ordered held without bail.
A message left Friday at the Anderson County public defender's office was not immediately returned.
