Much of the country will enjoy dry conditions Saturday, as a frontal system that dumped rain on parts of the East Coast moves out to sea.
Lingering showers are possible in areas of the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic region and Northeast
A low pressure system near Baja, Calif., is expected to pull moist air from Mexico to the Southwest, causing showers and thunderstorms from Arizona through Texas.
A spring heat wave is expected to continue in the Southwest and California, with temperatures in the 100s expected in some areas. Temperatures in the Northwest are expected to be in the 60s and 70s.
Temperatures in the 70s and 80s are expected in the Plains and Southeast, while the Northeast will likely get temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
Temperatures in the lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 24 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 106 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
