According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, after claiming to have accepted “an open invite” from Snoop, Richard Monroe II, from Kent, Wa, got up on the stage alongside Snoop Dogg, while he was performing his legendary cut, “Gin and Juice,” at the White River Amphitheatre last May 28. Monroe claims when he attempted to put his arms around Snoop in a friendly manner, bodyguards grabbed him, punched and stomped him out for approximately 35 seconds.
Monroe, 25, also insists that the rappers themselves joined in on the beatdown. Monroe’s lawyers say their client was robbed of his wallet, rings and cell phone as well.
Monroe suffered bruised ribs, black eyes, a broken nose and a busted lip from the alleged assault.
"Monroe did nothing suggestive of hostility and nothing whatsoever to provoke the violent response that ensued," the suit, which was filed last week, states.
Meredith O'Sullivan, Snoop’s spokeswoman, told the SPI this in the past:
"Any person who jumps onstage at a concert has to be interpreted as a security threat and an immediate risk. ... Once breach of security has been made, authorities are forced to take the proper measures."
