Forty-nine state Guard associations will soon receive financial rewards as part of the NGAUS Early Bird membership rebate program.

The program pays a 5 percent rebate to associations that forward their collected national dues to NGAUS by March 31.

This year, state associations forwarded more than $1.1 million in national dues by the deadline. Checks totaling $55,148 are scheduled to be mailed this month.

The Board of Directors created the program to encourage states and territories to forward dues early. The past practice of holding dues until the traditional June 30 membership deadline for conference seating and awards can bog down processing and accounting.

State Guard associations can receive an additional 5 percent rebate by exceeding their previous year-end membership percentages. States already at 100 percent need only maintain their full membership to receive the rebate.

Second rebate checks are issued upon state association request.
