The Sun has suspended reporter Alex West after his arrest for alleged drug offences.

West, 25, the son of the security minister Admiral Lord West, is on the paper's staff and has been working as a reporter since September.

According to report in the Daily Telegraph, West was arrested on January 6 outside a nightclub in Hackney, east London.

The report claimed he was allegedly approached by a drug dealer who asked if he would like to buy cocaine.

After his arrest, he was released on bail without charge.

The Sun editor, Rebekah Wade, has decided to suspend him from work.

West joined the Sun last year after spending more than a year working for the People.
