QUITO (Reuters) - The head of the assembly that is rewriting Ecuador's constitution said he offered his resignation Monday because his party refuses to heed his call for more time to draft the document.
It was unclear if the assembly would accept his resignation, which exposed rifts in President Rafael Correa's left-wing government as it seeks to revamp Ecuador's institutions to reduce traditional parties' power. (Reporting by Alonso Soto, writing by Saul Hudson; Editing by Enrique Andres Pretel)
