Disposable Ear Plugs

The Elvex Blue disposable foam ear plugs have been redesigned and retooled. The most obvious change involves the shape, which is more tapered, and the softness of the foam. Because of the new shape, this new generation of ear plugs is easier to insert correctly, resulting in a significant improvement in noise reduction rating to 32 dB. The high visibility blue color also makes it easier to monitor compliance.

Data Acquisition Hardware

LAN-XI data acquisition hardware is a versatile system of modular hardware that can be used as a stand-alone, single front end, as part of a distributed module setup, or collected in 11-module frames. The hardware is fully compatible with both PULSE and Ideas. The individual modules have a rugged industrial design, perfect for use in the field, and at the same time are plug-and-play modules easily reconfigured in different setups. Running on AC, DC or power over Ethernet and with interchangeable front panel connectors, LAN-XI hardware provides a flexible system that is scalable from 2 to more than 1000 channels with a frequency range of 51.2 kHz and an unlimited data transfer capacity. Human Vibration Analyzer

The SVAN-958, Type 1, 4-channel sound and vibration analyzer with dedicated triaxial accelerometers, mounting adapters and built-in extended vibration dose calculator is ideal for human vibration (hand-arm and whole-body). The SVAN-958 can also be used for general acoustic, vibration and environmental monitoring. Its digital signal processor (DSP) allows four channels of real time 1/1 or 1/3 octave analysis, including statistical calculations, to be performed simultaneously. FFT analysis, RT-60 measurements, and acoustic dosemeter functions are also available. The unit is powered by four alkaline or NiMH rechargeable AA size batteries as well as by the USB interface or external DC source. Dynamic Measurement Solutions, LLC, Highland, UT.

Low-Profile Sensors and Connectors

Model AC140 and AC240 accelerometers, along with the J2 series cable assembly, are designed for applications that require a low profile. High natural resonance of the sensors provides good overload resistance and makes them ideal for high-frequency applications. Applications include electric motors, gearboxes, compressors, fans, blowers, spindles, conveyors and other process equipment requiring high performance under severe conditions. An integral cable design is also available for submerged applications. Connection Technology Center, Inc. (CTC), Victor, NY.

Sound Barrier Material

Vinaflex is a noise barrier product designed to meet the physical and performance requirements of virtually any acoustical soundproofing application. It attenuates unwanted airborne noise passing through walls, ceilings, and floors and is ideal for pipe lagging applications. Its primary component is a flexible, mass-loaded vinyl barrier that is specifically engineered for efficient sound isolation. It does not shrink, rot or cause metal corrosion and features a strong resistance to adverse environmental conditions. Vinaflex is sold in rolls and other customized configurations and can be laminated to fit the application. GLT

Transient-Shock Data Logger

The TSRlOl is a battery-powered, standalone, triaxial, transient-shock data logger. Ideal for applications characterizing environments such as packaging and fragility assessment (drop testing), break and crash testing and shipment validation. The TSRlOl records data to memory when a user-specified trigger setting is exceeded. A window of pre-trigger data is also recorded. Users specify a reading rate between 1 and 1024 Hz, allowing for the capture of everything from high-speed acceleration data to tracking fragile shipments over time. The nonvolatile solid memory provides maximum security even if the battery becomes discharged. MadgeTech, Inc., Warner, NH.

RS #208

Acoustical Phone Booth

Acoustibooth telephone enclosures are rugged, lightweight perforated steel telephone sound enclosure systems designed to combat external noise in factories, airports and other loud public venues. These private telephone booths are built to deliver good quality phone communications where background noise is a problem. They are self-installed to existing structures to provide telephone communications for land or cell phone use. These acoustical phone booth stations can deliver 12-18 dB noise attenuation for telephone privacy. NetWell Noise Control, Minneapolis, MN.
