The suite of education sessions being offered by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) at this year's AAPEX Show in Las Vegas has been greatly expanded and tailored to aftermarket professionals in all segments of the industry. All sessions will be held in the Sands Expo Center (unless otherwise indicated) and are approved by the University of the Aftermarket for CEU credit toward the AAP and MAAP certificates. AAPEX will be held Nov. 4-6, 2008.

Hella recently released its new 2008-2009 Lighting Spare Parts catalog of OE-quality replacement parts for various Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Freightliner, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Saab, Toyota and Volkswagen models. The 84-page catalog features complete application listings with parts photos and ordering details, as well as an OEM part number cross reference.

MAHLE Clevite recently unveiled new courses pertaining to Clevite engine bearings and Perfect Circle piston rings for its eLearning curriculum, which is composed of courses covering each of the company's product lines. Each course is divided into 15- to 20-minute chapters, then into lessons. When a technician completes a course, he can print out a certificate to let others know of his achievement.

Tenneco has introduced a new set of trade incentives to its popular Monroe brakes "Fuel Stop" promotion. The new "Fuel Stop Rewards!" installer promotion and "Fuel Stop Benefits!" jobber/warehouse distributor promotion are available through Nov. 30, 2008. The Fuel Stop program is valid on any purchase of qualifying Monroe Ceramics and Monroe Dynamics brake pads. The program gives installers the opportunity to earn up to a $75 Monroe brakes debit card after purchasing 36 sets of qualifying pads (lesser amounts for smaller quantities). The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) and SkillsUSA have announced an agreement to provide cobranded end-of-program exams for students in secondary and postsecondary automotive technology programs. The new exams will merge the well-known NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) End-of-Program tests into a joint offering from the three groups. A spring 2009 launch is anticipated.

ANSA Automotive recently released its new 2008 OE Replacement Exhaust Catalog on CD, with more than 200 new part numbers added to the company's import replacement exhaust line. The CD catalog, which utilizes a PDF format, includes installation hardware for most import light vehicle applications and features a full index by vehicle make and model.

To offer greater flexibility and reach more technicians, the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide has acquired the resources to provide live mobile a/c training via the Internet in a webinar format. A webinar class requires students to view the instructor and class presentation materials on a computer connected to the Internet. Students hear the instructor over the phone. Initially, MACS will offer prep classes for the section 609 certification class and portions of the MACS Best Practices class via the Web.
