R. Andrew HAGEN

Financial Consultant

AXA ADVISORS

* Age: 37

* Do you have ideas to attract and keep youth in the Syracuse area? Syracuse needs to attract high-profile employers from outside CNY, bringing jobs that offer growth potential.

* Where do you see the community and yourself in the next 10 years? In 10 years, the rebirth of downtown Syracuse that we are seeing today will have developed the area into a vibrant group of interconnected neighborhoods. My financial-planning practice will have matured to indude several junior partners, and an administrative staff.

* Who has been the most influential person in your career? Anthony Krizman, the manager who hired me at AXA and encouraged me when the going was rough.

* What are your guiding principles in life? Tell the truth - be honest to your customers and to yourself. Do it right the first time. There is no substitute for hard work. Never stop learning.

* What has been your best career decision? Accepting the challenge of working for AXA as a financial consultant.

* How has your life turned out differently than imagined? I never imagined living in Syracuse after graduation from college or working in the industry that I am in.

* What is one of your quirks? I tend to be a saver. I have a basement full of stuff because, "you never know, you might need that some day."

* What are the core values that have been essential to your success? Strong work ethic and honesty. Customers can sense both, and can sense a lack of either.
