John Tommasini's two-run triple keyed a four-run second inning, and Oregon State held on for a 9-8 win over Texas A&M in their NCAA tournament opener Friday.

Koa Kahalehoe drove in three runs for the Beavers (36-17), who also got a two-run double by Carter Bell during a three-run third in the Fort Worth regional.

The Beavers took a 9-1 lead into the seventh inning before Texas A&M (36-23) came back.

After the Aggies loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, a two-run single by Kevin Gonzalez made it 9-5. Caleb Shofner hit a three-run homer in the ninth to draw Texas A&M within one, but Kraig Sitton struck out Adam Smith to end the game.

Sam Gaviglio earned the win for the Beavers. Brooks Raley got the loss for Texas A&M.
