Hurricane Neki weakens to a Category 1 hurricane in the central Pacific Ocean

Hurricane Neki has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane is it spins far out in the central Pacific.

Neki's maximum sustained winds have dropped to near 90 mph with additional weakening expected.

The hurricane is centered about 415 miles west of Lihue, Hawaii, and moving north-northeast near 9 mph.

The storm isn't expected to threaten Hawaii, but a hurricane warning has been issued for part of a marine conservation area northwest of the islands.
