A New Jersey prosecutor says preliminary autopsy results show that a priest found dead in his parish rectory was a homicide victim.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said Friday that the body of the Rev. Ed Hinds had "a significant amount of injuries."

The prosecutor would not say how the priest was killed, and no one has been arrested.

The body of the 61-year-old priest was found in the morning at St. Patrick's Church in Chatham. He was wearing his clerical robes.

Police held a safety seminar at the church Thursday in which they fingerprinted and photographed young children.

Chatham is about 10 miles west of Newark.
