Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes was suspended for one game without pay by the NBA on Friday after his shoving match with Jason Terry of Dallas.
NBA vice president Stu Jackson announced the punishment, a day after the altercation in the fourth quarter of the Lakers 110-82 victory over the Mavericks.
The incident occurred after Terry delivered a two-handed shove to the back of Lakers guard Steve Blake on a drive to the basket.
They were trading verbal barbs when Barnes got involved and shoved Terry.
He was restrained by Dallas assistant Terry Stotts, but shook off his grasp and sent the coach flying into the crowd at courtside.
Barnes was to serve his suspension on Friday when the Lakers visited Utah.
