Actor Brad Pitt says banning gay marriage is not what makes America great.
The 45-year-old Pitt put in an appearance Wednesday on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to pitch his Bill Beane biopic Moneyball, which opens nationwide Friday, September 23.
Pitt reiterated that he would not marry partner Angelina Jolie until gay marriage is legal throughout the nation.
“We live in this great country that is about freedom,” Pitt said. “It is defined by our freedom and equality and yet we allow this discrimination to go on everyday and that's not what we're about. That's not what makes us great. Until that is reversed. I just don't get it.”
With an Italian accent he added: “It'a make'a no sense to me.”
“Thank you,” said host DeGeneres, who is openly lesbian. “So that means if like, next week it's legal for everyone to get married that you would then be getting married the very next day. It seems.”
“It seems,” he answered.
