Elpida filed for bankruptcy protection

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Elpida Memory Inc said on Monday it has filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors with debt of 448 billion yen ($5.55 billion). Tokyo District Court has accepted the filing, the DRAM maker said. ($1 = 80.6850 Japanese yen)
