Young-spirited Canadian designers Dean and Dan Caten threw a 1960s senior high party for the DSquared2 catwalk show at Milan Fashion Week on Monday, with girls stepping out to the song "Madison Time".

Below the disco balls and balloons decorating the Catens' high-school gymnasium, models puffed on cigarettes and threw seductive looks at their male classmates from under their teased 60s up-dos.

They wore green crocodile-skin jackets with baby pink jeans, a leopard-print hat perched high on hairdos and gold sparkling high heels. Fitted yellow or stripped mohair jumpers were matched with purple crocodile-skin pencil skirts.

There was a lot of DSquared2's trademark denim, in jeans worn with a white shirt, jazzed up with a touch of fur at the collar, or long burgundy gloves.

The colours were mainly mustard yellows, baby blues, greens and pinks in a collection which tended towards the casual, with soft jumpers worn with playful gold trousers cut off above the ankle or blue dresses with sparkling buttons.

The Toronto-born twins, who were born in 1964, managed once again to distinguish themselves with an ironic and light-hearted show.

The pair had thrown a magic tricks party earlier in the week to unveil their new collection of women's bags, during which Dan managed to free himself from handcuffs and escape being skewered on a bed of nails.
