France international defender Eric Abidal on Sunday took part in training with Barcelona, just days after his club announced that he required a liver transplant.
"Abidal, who is waiting for a liver transplant in the coming weeks, participated in a training session", the Catalan giants said on their web site.
Abidal, 32, had a tumour removed from his liver in March last year. The announcement that he now has to have a transplant has seen an outpouring of support from the world of football, including at Barca's rivals Real Madrid.
Real boss Jose Mourinho on Saturday indicated that his players would demonstrate their backing for Abidal when they take on Malaga in the Spanish league later on Sunday.
