A Pakistani woman was doused with petrol and burned alive in a dispute with her husband's family, police said Wednesday, with her 90-year-old mother-in-law among those named as suspects.
Mother-of-one Sobia Bibi, 25, died after she was attacked while watching television in the house she shared with her in-laws, investigating officer Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hussain said.
Hussain said a case had been registered against four people over the March 27 attack in a village in Narowal district, northeast of the eastern city of Lahore, including the victim's 90-year-old mother-in-law.
Sobia Bibi had a good relationship with her husband, who was working in Karachi at the time of the attack, Hussain said, but had frequently quarrelled with his family.
