15allstar
Feb 14, 2010 19:00 EST
East141West139 ARLINGTON, Texas - In an area where big is the usual and even bigger is best, the actual NBA All-Star Game seemed small in comparison to the event itself. This was the kind of All-Star Game where everything seemed juiced up, amped up, and hyped up to the point that the game seemed almost miniature. The game wasn't bigger than the 160-foot Jerry-tron, which was 63 feet longer than the court. It wasn't bigger than the record crowd of 108,713 fans, who, whether they wanted to or not, found themselves staring at the huge screen like the light at the end of the tunnel. It wasn't bigger than the lasers and lights, the dancing and processed vocals of Usher, Alicia Keys, and Shakira. In the end, it was a 141-139 win for the Eastern Conference. The super-sized spectacle dwarfed the skill. ``The whole atmosphere,'' said Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Maverick who got the hometown warmed up by hitting the first two shots of the night. ``I've never been in a gym this big. It was amazing
