English pop singer Cheryl Cole has endorsed gay marriage. English pop and R&B singer Cheryl Cole (known as Cheryl) has endorsed equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples. The 28-year-old Cole rose to fame in 2002 when she auditioned for the reality talent contest Popstars: The Rivals, winning her a place as a member of Girls Aloud. In 2009, Cole began her solo career. She released her third studio album A Million Lights on June 18. Appearing on GaydarRadio, co-host Neil Sexton asked Cole whether she supports the UK government's plan to legalize marriage equality before 2015. ?What marriage stands for is that you love that person,? she said. ?You want to commit yourself to that person forever. ?
