Crain also wanted to know why Route 3 was pockmarked where reflective pavement markers should be, and when the reflectors would be replaced. Before I could answer, I got a similar question from an anonymous reader on the other side of Boston, asking about ``patches where the asphalt is missing right under where they painted the dashed white lines on Route 128 in the Reading-Wakefield stretch.

This was Pie Central, the logistical headquarters of the nation's largest and oldest Thanksgiving pie sale to benefit the hungry. For two days, volunteers turned part of a vast hall at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center into an inspection, labeling, and distribution hub for 15,000 pies: pumpkin, pecan, sweet potato, apple, diabetic-friendly apple.
