LONDON (Reuters) - Financial markets are unlikely to be derailed by mass euro zone downgrades but with Greek debt talks at an impasse, pressure has been loaded on the bloc to shore up its defenses and glimmers of optimism from last week have been firmly doused.

LONDON (Reuters) - European shares look set to finish the third quarter with their best performance in nearly a decade on expectations of economic recovery while world stocks also rose strongly though not as much as in the previous period. The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 <.FTEU3> index put on 0.4 percent on Wednesday and the MSCI world index added the same, while commodity prices were also firmer but the dollar fell against a basket of currencies.

LONDON (Reuters) - World stocks climbed and the dollar fell on Tuesday ahead of the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting, with investors' search for higher returns reflected in the New Zealand dollar's surge to 13-month highs.
