Nov 07, 2009 - Palma, Spain - Exclusive: Simon Cowell's Little-Known Sister On His Wealth, His Mischievous Childhood -- And Why None Of His Many Girlfriends Could Match Up To His Mother No one apart from friends and family would pick her out from among the shoppers on the island of Majorca. Smart, but not overdressed, the slender brunette in heels could be one of the locals who keep the ancient city of Palma ticking over once the tourists leave. Today, she will have lunch with friends in a small seafront restaurant, chatting in perfect Spanish before taking the short walk home to tend the plants on her balcony. Only the strong, dark head of hair and something surprisingly familiar about her eyes and smile give any clue that the 59-year-old is more than an ordinary resident. For this is June Cowell, a woman whose modest determination to stay below the radar of public attention contrasts starkly with the lifestyle of her little brother Simon. According to one recent survey, he is now 'more famous than God and the Queen'. The driving force behind The X Factor, Simon is estimated to be worth more than £120million and was last week named as the highest paid man on television in the US, where he produces and presents American Idol. June, meanwhile, shops in Primark on visits to London. And while Simon uses private jets (£11,000 for a trip to Spain), June is happy on budget airlines. On the surface their lives could hardly be more different. Yet there are still striking similarities. Photo Shows: Simon Cowell's half-sister June in a promotional photograph, 1958
