Ash and smoke are spewed from Popocatepetl Volcano as seen from the town of Xalitxintla in the central state of Puebla, 12 km from the crater. Residents reported roaring noises from the Popocatepetl volcano near Mexico City Tuesday after signs of increased activity prompted authorities to raise alert levels.
