Chinese police patrol a street in Urumqi, the capital of the restive Xinjiang region. Chinese authorities say crew and passengers travelling on a plane that had just taken off from a restive city in China's far-western Xinjiang region have thwarted a hijack attempt by six Muslim Uighurs.
