A Sri Lankan municipal worker fumigates insecticide to curb mosquito breeding during the start of a major clean up operation to tackle the spread of the dengue virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. Official figures show that 15,000 people were infected with dengue in the first five months of this year compared to 10,300 in the corresponding period last year.
