The Hungary-based research lab responsible for detecting the Duqu trojan has released a toolkit to find traces of the trojan on a computer or in a whole network.. The Laboratory of Cryptography and System Security (CrySyS), the Budapest, Hungary-based research lab responsible for detecting the Duqu trojan, has released an open source detector toolkit to assist in finding traces of the trojan on a computer or in a whole network. According to release notes for the Duqu Detector Toolkit v1.01 on the CrySyS website, the package contains signature- and heuristics-based methods capable of discovering traces of infections where pieces of the malware have already been removed from the system.

Duqu, the so-called "son of Stuxnet" trojan, contains a dropper program that exploits a previously unknown vulnerability in the Windows kernel, researchers said Tuesday.
